It’s so easy to become a disorganized mess when life gets extra busy.
For me, I know that it only takes a day to be out of my usual organizing habits or chores, and then suddenly it seems like a bomb has hit our house and I’m completely overwhelmed by everything.
I learned though not necessarily want Prioritizing organization when life gets busy is usually what keeps me sane during those tough days or seasons of life.
Sometimes it’s the little habits in our days that make the biggest difference in our lives. Making small changes to your daily routine can help you stay more organized and make your busy schedule feel less overwhelming.
So today I’m going to share a few habits that I’ve found to be very helpful in staying organized, even though life can be a bit chaotic!
Tips to stay organized when life gets busy:
1. Create a morning routine
As a former night owl, I have to say that creating a morning routine is key for me to start my day off on the right foot, especially when I’m busy!
I took the crystal pain Makeover your mornings Years ago, it completely changed the way I look at mornings and taught me that the way we approach our morning routine can have a positive impact on our lives. Creating a morning routine is a great way to start each day without confusion 🙂
2. Use lists for everything
Instead of relying on your memory to remember any to-dos you think of throughout the day, add them to various ongoing lists. I usually have lists for groceries, urgent errands, non-urgent errands I need to get.
Instead of using up precious brain power trying to remember all of these things, I add my various lists throughout the day so I can go about the rest of my day knowing I won’t forget any to-dos I’ve thought of! The Notes app on my phone is usually where I save them.
3. Use the “one minute” rule
If a task takes a minute or less to complete, then Do it now Instead of putting it off for later. Some tasks that come to mind are hanging up your coat when you walk in the door, picking up your groceries when you get home, and clearing your plate and putting it in the dishwasher when you’re done eating.
It’s usually easier to tackle these smaller tasks when they pop up, rather than letting them all pile up and then you need more time to complete them later.
4. Do the best you can with the time you have
You may be putting off tasks like cleaning your bathroom thoroughly because you don’t have time to do the full deep cleaning you want to do. Instead of trying to do all the deep cleaning at once, maybe you have time to scrub the toilet, then tomorrow you’ll have time to clean the bathtub, and then the next day you’ll clean the mirror and vanity.
Of course, cleaning the bathroom this way may not be the best or most time efficient, but the important thing is that it’s all done in the end, and you’re now breaking down the big task of deep cleaning your bathroom into manageable pieces.
5. Stay on top of the little things
Make sure your car is full of gas so you don’t have to stop at the gas station at the last minute when you’re already running late somewhere. Or stay on top of your laundry so you don’t have to hunt in the morning when you’re running out the door trying to find a clean shirt!
6. Make quick decisions
If you’re usually indecisive about the simplest decisions in your day-to-day life, it can cause you a lot of unnecessary stress and drain time away from what’s most important.
If you’re having trouble making decisions, try to make quick decisions so you can get on with your day and not waste your energy on things that don’t really matter (ie what to wear for the day or what to eat for breakfast).
7. Make sure everything has a home
If you don’t have a dedicated place to put everything, it’s hard to put things away and keep everything neat and tidy. Make your life easier by dedicating a place to everything in your home so you can quickly clean and stay organized!
Reducing the amount of stuff in your home can be a huge help in getting organized and getting things done. N Clutter free Of courseI’ll share a step-by-step plan to declutter every room in your home and help you feel less cluttered through the process!
